Choosing the UAM Master "Estudios Literarios y Culturales Británicos y de los Países de Habla Inglesa. Literatura, Cultura, Comunicación y Traducción" entails reaching a specialization in literary studies of the anglosphere. However, it also represents an opportunity to get familiar with MILA.
Among the academic possibilities this master offers, subjects with matrifocal content and analyses can be found. Particularly, in Sexo, género y sexualidad en la cultura anglófona where the IP of this project, Laura Arce Álvarez, curates a selection of texts (The House of Impossible Beauties, Zami: A New Spelling of my Name, On Earth We Are Briefly Gorgegous, among others) which serve as opportunities to delve into matrifocal narratives. In addition, Eulalia Piñero Gil teaches the subject Literatura Norteamericana where se incorporates this project's objectives by recuperating the mothering experiences of women from the 20th Century through the figure of Kate Chopin.

Founded in 1998, the Gender Studies Graduate Seminar held in Universidad Autónoma de Madrid every year is one of the pioneer programs in the promotion of young scholars. It encourages undergraduate, graduate and PhD researchers in participating in a national academic event to explore their topics of interest regarding Gender and Feminist Studies in the Anlgo-American Literary sphere. The last two editions of this seminar have not only welcomed but prioritized matrifocal perspectives by encouraging students to present their research on matrifocal texts, matrilineal narratives, analyses on mother-daughter relationships and so on.

Recently founded by the youngest members of the MIRCAALT group, this seminar attempted to create a fruitful and welcoming space for young researchers. Bridging the distance between literary spaces, the first edition of this seminar was the result of the collaboration of MIRCAALT and Philobiblion, an association for young researchers of Hispanic Literature. The result was a complete accomplishment as all participants shared a generalized feeling of having found a format that enabled them to explore their research among peers and socialize with them! MILA contributed to the organization by actively promoting its celebration and by offering a full matrifocal panel where different colleagues shared their take on mothering and families. Besides, matrifocal papers also were featured in other panels where intersectionality's importance was stressed.
